The ITF W15 Villena is ready to enjoy a new edition of the tournament

The Ferrero Tennis Academy is ready to host another international tournament. This prestigious tennis academy that has magnificent facilities for the practice of this sport will be in the focus of women's tennis between 21 and 27 October. An ITF W15 with great rackets of the women's circuit and numerous representations of Spanish tennis players, many of them young promises of national tennis. This will be the fourth edition of a tournament that has been consolidating in the ITF Future circuit and hopes to continue to be played for many more years.

Kamil becomes the fifth champion of the Alicante Ferrero Challenger and returns near to the Top 100 ATP (114). The award ceremony was attended by Paco Vicent, President of the Tennis Federation of the Valencian Community; Maite Gandia, Councilor for Sports of the City of Villena; and the founder of the Academy Antonio Martinez Cascales, who recalled in an emotional way the year of training that Kamil spent in the Academy itself that today saw him rise as Champion.

The Ferrero Tennis Academy event is once again an organizational success and would not be possible without the support of Postres Reina, Isdin, Mapfre, RFET, Generalitat Valenciana, Diputación de Alicante, Snacks El Valle, OVB All Finanz and Head.

Top two seeds and many Spaniards

The Ukrainian Podrez and the Hungarian Nagy will be the first two seeded players. Both are playing the ITF W15 Torello and will arrive acclimatized to the Spanish conditions with the role of favorites at least by ranking, although we already know the equality that exists in this type of tournament.

Looking at the Spanish players, a total of five have entered directly into the draw. Noelia Bouzo, Carmen Lopez, Sara Dols, Mercedes Aristegui and Judith Perello will seek to find their best version and reach the final rounds to fight for this title. It should be remembered that there will surely be more Spanish players in the competition, as there are still the wild cards offered by the tournament itself and also those players who start their particular adventure in the preliminary phase but manage to reach the final draw.

ITF W15 Villena W15 Champions List

The Villena women's tournament has an interesting list of champions. The first champion in singles was Laura Pigossi. The Brazilian has among her great achievements that bronze medal won at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The first Spanish tennis player to win the Ferrero Tennis Academy was Jessica Bouzas. The player from Villagarcía de Arousa has had an exponential growth since then. So much so that she is close to breaking the barrier of the WTA top 50, so she is consolidated in the elite of women's tennis.

The last winner of the Alicante championship was the Italian tennis player Anastasia Abbagnato. A week in which she found her best tennis and was able to overcome one by one all her rivals to take the throne.

In doubles, the first champions were two Spanish players. Alba Carrilo and Ángela Fita were able to resolve the week in their favor and were superior to their opponents during all the matches. They took over in 2022 Lily Steur and Lucia Cortez, who won her second title in the ITF circuit. Lukosiute and Paukstyte also managed to lift the championship crown.
