The second one is that the academy has been characterized by its family environment for the past 25 years. We feel proud to present the academy as a big family where players and staff live and learn together.

About us
Ferrero Tennis Academy is a world-renowned high performance tennis academy based in Villena, Spain. It was founded in 1990 by Both, and has come a long way since then, now more than 30 years old. When the Academy first opened its doors to the world, it had just two tracks and today we are proud to say that it has become one of the best academies in the world, with 25 courts of all surfaces and a world-class sports complex.
From the outset, the Academy has worked to bring out the best in each player. Antonio Martínez Cascales' intention was to provide the best facilities and conditions for young players to improve their tennis in the area and become professionals. Juan Carlos Ferrero began training under Cascales at the age of 10. His father's daily training sessions at his club led him to pick up a racket and choose this sport, which he would continue throughout his career. The Academy staff also promotes the social and cultural development of its players, caring for them as they grow.
At the academy you can enjoy your stay in our Rural Hotel with tennis, but also with padel activities, eat at the Restaurant, visit our sports store or enjoy our massages and physiotherapy treatments. The Academy is a place where many professional players have come to train with us and where they continue to work with the Competition program today. In addition, we offer and recommend sightseeing throughout the Alicante and Valencia areas during your stay.
The academy's most important program is the Annual Program, designed for players who aspire to improve their playing style. The program has a limited number of places due to the personalized training offered to players. Players are supervised at all times by our highly qualified staff: certified coaches, physical trainers, physiotherapists, nutritionists, doctors, and psychologists. All of them have experience in sports and professional tennis. During their stay in the program, a personalized training and tournament plan is developed that will be tailored to the player's level and age.
Education is also an intrinsic part of the Academy's values, both on and off the court. Players who want to combine training and studies, will have the opportunity to study at the same facilities. To achieve this, we collaborate with the Spanish Government, offering the possibility of distance learning in accordance with the guidelines of the Center for Innovation and Development of Distance Education (CIDEAD). The studies are organized by our teachers, who tailor it to each player according to their tennis program. Tutoring sessions can be held at any time, including evenings and weekends. We also offer the possibility of taking English or Spanish classes with the Academy's own teachers.
Among other things, it is worth highlighting the large number of tournaments that can be played at the Academy for all ages and levels. We are proud to host Spain's most important junior tennis tournament: ITF J300 Villena. In addition to other tournaments such as ATP Alicante Ferrero Challenger, Tennis Europe U14 and U16 or FIP Bronze in padel. In all of them, we help our players obtain Wild Cards.
For those who want to develop their tennis skills at a more social or recreational level, the Academy offers other programs, apart from high-level competition, such as mini-tennis or recreational tennis and padel activities tailored to groups and younger children. During the summer, the Academy offers the Summer Stage (during the months of June, July, and August), where children aged eight and older have the opportunity to train as our professional players do throughout the year.
History
Ferrero Tennis Academy is one of the best high-performance tennis academies in the world. At the age of 22, in 1980 Both, founded the tennis school at the club where he used to train. During the 1980s, the school came to be considered one of the best in Spain, becoming famous among young players as one of the best training grounds for professional players, as in the case of Santiago Ventura (ATP Top 50).
In 1990, Cascales founded the academy. After establishing it, Antonio Martinez Cascales (Head Coach) with Samuel López (Coach) formed a team and continued training players from there. Juan Carlos Ferrero, barely 10 years old, joined the academy as a player that same year.
In 1994, Juan Carlos became the Spanish junior champion. In 1995, Antonio Martínez Cascales decided to buy a small house and build two courts on the same site where the high-performance tennis academy he shares with Ferrero is located today.
The goal of this academy was to get the best facilities as possible for young athletes, where they could practice, improve their tennis skills and get into the professional world such as Juan Carlos Ferrero (Nº 1), Carlos Alcaraz (Nº1), Nicolas Almagro (Top 10), Pablo Carreño (Top 10), Guillermo García López (Top 50) and María Teresa Torro Flor (Top 50).
In addition to these players who have trained with us for many years, many others have passed through the academy. Among these, we can highlight Maria Sharapova who trained at our facilities for several clay court seasons, including Roland Garros, which she won, taking her to number 1, and celebrating that victory at the academy itself. Others include David Ferrer who earned his first ATP points with us, Justine Henin, the brothers Marat and Dianra Safin, Thomaz Bellucci, Maria Jose Martínez, Santiago Ventura, Marta Domachowska, Aravene Rezai, Marius Fyrstenberg, Emilio Nava, Bu Yunchaokete, Darwin Blanch, and Mohamed Safwat.

Why tennis?
Sports have been evolving and becoming more and more important in our society, what we practiced as a hobby some years ago, is now a job. There are people pursuing the summit in sports, and there is a single and existing competitiveness, due to sports have been promoted and spread all around the world.
As is common and normal, when an activity evolves, it needs control and greater organisation, hence sport is now institutionalised and has repercussions on economic, social, labour, racial, global, etc. aspects. Sport has acquired an enormous importance, and for all these reasons it is seen from a much more organic and structured organisation.
Adults and children enjoy sporting activities, with some individuals even becoming famous for their sporting prowess. Sport now has legal and social control, whether we are talking about contracts, federations, codes of conduct, services for athletes worldwide, etc. Institutions range from local neighborhoods to supranational organizations. Sport is one of the few events that can unite the masses without restrictions, and due to the great importance it has been given in recent decades, it is now studied by sciences such as anthropology, sociology, law, politics, finance, advertising, etc.
UNESCO (1989) has declared that sport is a specific competitive activity in which the practice of physical exercise is highly valued with a view to the individual achieving the perfection of their morphological, functional, and psychological potential, connected with a record in surpassing themselves or their opponent. But not only with a view to perfecting the human body, but also the spirit and certain qualities such as loyalty, energy, perseverance, and determination. For Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the international Olympic movement, sport is "the voluntary and habitual cult of intensive muscular effort, supported by the desire for progress, which can go as far as risk."
That said, Ferrero Tennis Academy adds what it considers the basic pillars of sport in general and tennis in particular in the 21st century: quality of life, fun and education; which it tries to transmit to all those who visit our facilities.
