Pablo Carreño has been crowned champion of the eighth edition of the Alicante Ferrero Challenger after defeating France's Hugo Grenier 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a thrilling final played on Sunday at the JC Ferrero Tennis Academy.

The match began with Grenier playing very strongly from the baseline, taking the first set 6-4 thanks to his aggression and control. However, Carreño reacted with authority in the second set, supported by the crowd and displaying his best tennis to level the match with a resounding 6-1. From that moment on, the match was evenly balanced. Grenier, who played with discomfort from the second set onwards, showed enormous strength and fighting spirit, resisting until the end despite his physical difficulties. His effort was recognized with a warm ovation, also because it was his third final in Villena, a tournament where he always gives his best.

The outcome came in the third set, when Carreño achieved a decisive break that tipped the balance. The Asturian closed the match with a mixture of relief and emotion, before melting into a long applause with a crowd that supported him.

With the stands full and the crowd enthusiastic, the final was exciting, intense, and featured a great deal of quality tennis. Carreño, who trained for years at the academy, had a very special day at home. He was moved when he received the trophy, aware of what it meant to lift it in the place where he grew up as a player and as a person.

The Alicante Ferrero Challenger thus closes an unforgettable eighth edition, with great tennis matches, a friendly and familiar atmosphere, and an audience that once again turned the JC Ferrero Tennis Academy into the heart of international tennis. Pablo Carreño, for his part, is already looking to the future: he will continue his journey on the ATP circuit next year, proving that his passion and his tennis are as alive as ever.
