Darwin Blanch: Climbing in 2025
This year is being key for the young promise in his progression: Focused on his jump to professionalism, Blanch has been alternating experiences in ATP, Challenger and ITF Men's tournaments during this first four-month period.
The young talent of Juan Carlos Ferrero Academy, Darwin Blanch, is focused on continuing to grow. At just 17 years old, the American not only continues to consolidate himself as one of the great promises of world tennis, but is already beginning to make his mark on the professional circuit.
Blanch began his season by participating in several ITF M15 tournaments. With some semifinals in Tunisia and a great performance at home, the M15 Villena organized by the Ferrero Tennis Academy, where he became champion after an intense final against Oliver Crawford. Darwin is showing maturity, which has already led him to lift his first title of the year, with the applause of the entire Academy.
In March he went a step further and participated, thanks to a wild card, in the qualifying round of the Miami Open, one of the most important tournaments on the calendar. There he signed one of the great milestones of his young career by beating the Japanese Taro Daniel (number 131 of the ATP ranking) in a brilliant match by Blanch, who achieved his first victory in a Master 1000 tournament. In this case in the Miami Open qualifier, where he lost in the final qualy against Top100ATP Chun Hsin Tseng in the tiebreak of the third set. A great experience and a step forward to introduce himself to the world.
Weeks later, the young talent flew to Mexico to play the Challenger of Mexico City, where the good results continued. He defeated his opponent in the first round and reached the round of 16. First victory in an ATP Challenger and another valuable experience, this time on clay, to continue growing.
A month later, Darwin was the protagonist in the Calabasas M25, played in his native country. The Ferrero Tennis Academy player signed a remarkable performance reaching the semifinals after defeating Maloney, the Venezuelan Rodriguez and Hohmann, showing a level of strength and confidence that is increasingly consolidated in his game. His last great appearance has been at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he received a wild card to compete in the qualifiers. A new opportunity to compete in one of the great stages of world tennis and measure himself against the best in the world to continue learning and that was another key step in his growth as a player.
