Three weeks of great results for our players in the ITF tour of Egypt
The Ferrero Tennis Academy has lived an intense three-week tour in Egypt, where four of our players - Sergei Likhogrud, Sergi Servera, Johanna Wnorowski and Sofie Hrdinova - competed in the ITF J30 tournaments in Cairo and Alexandria, both in singles and doubles.
Week 1: ITF J30 Cairo (June 23-29)
The tour kicked off in the Egyptian capital where Sofie had an excellent week reaching the semifinals, playing solid and very effective tennis against good level opponents.
In singles, both Sergei Likhogrud and Sergi Servera managed to advance one round before falling in the second. Johanna Wnorowski also overcame her debut, showing consistency in her game, and was also defeated in the second round.
Week 2: ITF J30 Alexandria (June 30 - July 6)
The second week of competition brought the best result in men's doubles: Sergei and Sergi reached the final, where they fought, but ended up losing 4/6 and 2/6 to the solid local pair Ehab/Genidy. A remarkable result that shows the good connection of both on court.
In women's doubles, Johanna and Sofie reached the quarterfinals in a disputed match against Malak and Saad (3/6, 2/6).
In singles, all our players performed at a good level. Sergei, Johanna and Sofie reached the third round, while Sergi again passed the first round. Constancy, hard work and good attitude were the predominant notes of all of them.
Week 3: ITF J30 Cairo (7-13 July)
The tour closed brilliantly with a title and a final in doubles. Sergei and Sergi were proclaimed champions in men's doubles, winning in a great final against the Egyptians AlSayed and Ahmed Wageh by 4/6 and 6/7. A well-deserved prize for the effort and understanding shown throughout the tour.
In the women's draw, Johanna and Sofie also shined in doubles, reaching the final, where they lost to the Egyptians Eltawel and Mostafa by 5/7 and 2/6. It was a very positive week for both, consolidating themselves as a competitive and growing pair.
In singles, all four players managed to advance rounds. Sergi reached the third, as well as Johanna and Sofie, while Sergei came second again. All of them showed a good physical and mental level in the final stretch of the tour.
Beyond the positive results, this tour of Egypt has served to further consolidate the daily work being done at the Ferrero Tennis Academy. After this preparation, the players will start a tour of Spain with the aim of continuing to improve their international ranking, and above all adding level matches to gain experience for the future.
