The last grand slam of the year is underway: The US Open, the big opportunity for Alcaraz

The US Open is the next big event on the calendar following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The tournament opens up the possibility for Carlos Alcaraz to move up the ATP rankings and reach the top spot by the end of the year.

The US Open will begin on the 26th August at the USTA Billie Jean King National Center located in New York. The tournament is the last Grand Slam of the season and offers Alcaraz the opportunity to climb the ATP rankings. If so, he will be ranked No.1 in the world at the end of this year; his current ranking, as it stands, is at No.3.

The tournament is a chance for him to achieve another great feat: to become one of only six players in history to lift three Grand Slam trophies in the same year. If he wins, this would be his third consecutive Grand Slam, after Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2024. In addition to these triumphs, he also won the silver medal in singles in the Paris Olympic Games.

Alcaraz could be one of them, since he won the title in 2022 and became the youngest player to climb to the top of the professional rankings. In this way, Ferrero Tennis Academy could boast of being the only academy in the 21st century to take two players to world number 1. Juan Carlos Ferrero achieved the same milestone in 2003, when he was still a player at the academy and not its director.

The world’s best players arrive at the US Open with high expectations of improving their position in the ATP rankings. A great performance shall be expected of the Juan Carlos Ferrero Tennis Academy player, which would allow him to fight to finish the year in the No.1 spot
