JUNIOR TENNIS PLAYER JOY DE ZEEUW IS PROCLAIMED CHAMPION OF THE ITF WOMEN 15K OF THE FERRERO ACADEMY
Alba Rey and Judith Perello, the best Spanish players of the tournament, lost in the quarterfinals.
The Juan Carlos Ferrero Tennis Academy continues with its extensive calendar of international tournaments at the end of the year. After the professional ATP Challenger tournament and before the junior tournaments that will fill the Academy every week of November (ITF Junior and Tennis Europe U16 and U16), this week has been played this week the professional women's tournament W15 that distributes 15,000$ in prizes.
The tournament has stood out for the high level, especially of young players from Eastern Europe. The great protagonist of the tournament was undoubtedly Joy de Zeeuw. With 18 years old, she has been proclaimed champion in both doubles and singles. A great level for a young player who has enough physical and mentality to compete in the WTA ranking. The Dutch player competed last week in her first professional women's tournament on fast court. In these two weeks she has managed to become finalist the previous week in Torelló and now champion of Villena.
On the other hand, the most outstanding Spaniards in the draw were Alba Rey and Judith Perello. Alba Rey managed to qualify from the qualy draw and advance safely to the quarterfinals. Until then she had not lost a set. However, 17-year-old Bulgarian Elizara Yaneva ended her title aspirations on a bad day for Alba, who failed to show the level of play of the previous rounds. For her part, Judith started as one of the favorites for the title but finally lost to another 18-year-old Dutch player, Isis Van Den Broek by a double 6/4. Van den Broek also showed a great level but had to retire in her semifinal match.
The Ferrero Tennis Academy event has gone ahead despite the rainy days and next year it will be organized again with an improvement in the prizes. All the ITF Men and Women of Spain will pass from 2025 to distribute 20,000$ in prize money instead of fifteen. The tournament has been possible thanks to the support of Postres Reina, Rubsta, RFET, Snacks ElValle, OVB All Finanz and Head.
